her success is not your failure

We are only human so we can't help but to to compare ourselves with the next human. Especially if that human does areal pilates at 5am 5 days a week and looks slammin' with a baby on the hip, and one in a stroller while the third strolls just ahead of her through the zoo, politely asking permission to set up to the glass and get a better view of the jaguar. Who is this bitch? How dare she look that good, and be a good mom, with perfect children?

Ok let's relax and take a step back. We don't know her truth. We don't know her struggle. We don't know her life. Could she truly be this mythical unicorn mom? It's possible (doubtful). Why do we lust after other moms like this though? And the only way we can rationalize them being so outwardly flawless by imagining flaws to make ourselves feel better.

Just because she is succeding does not mean that you are failing! We can all win!
Let's stop. Let's imagine her being perfect, let her have her credit, let her have her homemade baby food, wipes whatever, her perfect kids and body, and husband! You can have it too! We are each other's greatest resource, and we would all see that if we put our pride aside for one second.
If you like something someone else has, compliment them! Compliment her on how well behaved her kids are, let her know how strong she looks. You never know of she is one poopy diaper away from a complete meltdown. Lets lift each other up people! Stop with the shaming, and the judging. I am not guilt free what so ever in this scenario, I have tons of opinions, but it is not my place to just dish them out to people unsolicited. If someone has a question I answer it candidly. If they give me their unsolicited opinion, I try to politely move on maybe I'll say something like, "well, this is what works for us."

If your child is not being harmed by your decision making and parenting it is no one else's business how you choose to raise them. Let's all just try to raise kind and respectful children who care about the world and all the people in it. God bless the WHOLE world, no exceptions.
