Basse's Taste of Country Farm Market

Today we got up bright an early and headed over to Basse's in Colgate, WI. It was totally worth it!
It was hotter than I thought it was going to be so thank God we got there early (9am), also they recommended coming early because the picking times were only from 8am-1pm today and I am guessing that the fields can get picked over before the time slot is up, then they have to watch for the next batch to ripen before they will put out another picking time. See all those cute little yellow ones? They are just waiting to grow up and be delicious. As you can see baby girl had a keen eye for the "ready-to-pop-into-her-mouth" variety. I think she ate her weight in berries. I didn't even show nature girl what to do and she already had her cheeks full of berries. Anyways, we got a huge haul of the best raspberries I have ever tasted, it filled a morning and with three pints and a fresh squeeze lemonade, we spent $20.08. The more pints you buy the lower the price per pint. Three was definitely plenty for us, you can find me on Pinterest later looking for recipes. |

Besides the berries being amazing, they were KID FRIENDLY! No one cringed when they saw us coming! There were lots of other littles there, people talked to our kids like they were normal humans, no one scolded us or gave is dirty looks. Ahhhhh, how freaking nice. I never felt bad about the girls wandering into someone else's "picking section", the other "pickers" were just as nice as the workers.
Overall, good value, great family activity, super kid friendly, not too far out of the city, great quality product, great staff, great customers, GREAT JOB BASSE'S!
We will positively be back for pumpkin picking, looks like they have a huge festival! Coming up next for picking is blackberries and that is also very tempting....
